Toyota is taking a conservative approach to redesigning the small cars of its Scion brand, the forgettable Scion xA and the box-it-came-in Scion xB. The xB remains boxy, but the edges are a bit smoother, and the shape is sportier and more modern. Riding on a larger front-drive platform, the xB is now powered by the Scion tC's 161-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder Look for the '08 xB in showrooms this spring. The first xA didn't sell as well as its boxy brother, the xB, and was likely deemed too much like its corporate cousin, the Toyota Echo. and that's probably the reason its replacement, the xD, gets a name change as well as a more power ful engine than before.
